Sleep is essential for good health: it allows the body and mind to rest and recover. Rest is often an important tool to overcome illnesses, whether they are psychic or fysical problems.
In addition to proper sleep, relaxation also has a positive effect on individuals’ functioning and general health (Vingerhoets et al, 2003). However, while there may be consensus on the need for recreation and leisure time, it is far more difficult to reach agreement on what this entails exactly. It is in fact impossible to determine entirely normatively which products and services people require in order to be able to relax adequately.
